Solution to Eye Contour Problems: Under-Eye Dark Circles, Wrinkles, Bags and Drooping Eyebrows

Hello everyone, I am Dr. Nezih Karaca. Today I will tell you about the eye area. Pores around our eyes, wrinkles, drooping eyebrows, hollowness under the eyes, a more tired appearance—all of these things can happen to us. I will try to explain the alternatives and solutions for these issues.

Under-Eye Dark Circles, Wrinkles, Bags and Drooping Eyebrows
How to Get Rid of Under-Eye Wrinkles

Let's start with dark circles first. Why do dark circles occur under or around the eyes? The main reason is genetic predisposition. If there is a genetic tendency in your family, your eyes may appear dark even at a young age. Apart from that, some internal deficiencies, some deficiencies in your blood, can cause your eyes to appear dark. For example, anemia. If you consume less red meat, if you are anemic, if your iron is low, if your iron stores—that is, your ferritin level—is low, the dark circles under your eyes may look even darker. If you have an iron deficiency, you may tire easily. You will experience all of these. So, pay attention to your red meat consumption and ensure that your iron levels are not low. If necessary, it is useful to have a blood test and check-up. Apart from that, if there is a deficiency in your thyroid functions, such as goiter, it can manifest with a noticeable darkness under your eyes. We examine many blood values like this. But if there is no problem with these, your eyes may appear dark for genetic reasons even if nothing is wrong.

So, how do we solve it? The first thing we do is if there is a hollowness along with the darkness under the eyes, then we apply under-eye light filler. Under-eye light filler is made from a filler substance called hyaluronic acid, which we refer to as a ready-made filler, and the hyaluronic acid in it is specially prepared for under-eye fluidity. We open it sterilely, attach the needle to it, and apply it to the hollows under the eyes, i.e., the areas where there is hollowness. So, what happens when this is done? When you perform this treatment, the substance we call hyaluronic acid lifts the hollow area and draws water into it, providing significant support for the area to look much brighter and more rested. Under-eye light filler has a very good effect on suitable patients, and after application, you will be comfortable for an average of 1.5–2 years. But we have to check if you are suitable for under-eye light filler. I cannot say if you are suitable without an examination. But I would like to say that it is very effective for suitable patients.

The second option: you are not suitable for under-eye light filler, or you do not want to have filler for your under-eye issue. This can also be an option. What can be done? Sometimes we apply laser methods to lighten this darkness. When certain types of fractional lasers are applied regularly in sessions, the color tone in this area lightens. But if we do this procedure, there will be redness and slight swelling in your under-eye area after the laser. Be prepared for slight redness and swelling for 4–5 days after the laser. If you are suitable for this, you can have laser done.

If you say, "I don't want laser, and I don't want under-eye light filler," then I will recommend cosmetic products to you. But you must use them very regularly. If you use them consistently, with small, regular applications, you will start to see the swelling in your under-eye area diminish from the 8th week. So, what should I use? If your under-eye darkness is noticeable, there are two products you must use. One is a retinol group product specifically for the under-eye area. As a sponsor, I recommend OCL's Granactive Retinoid. The feature of Granactive Retinoid is that it is a retinol group product. I have already explained the difference between retinol and retinoid in my previous videos—I recommend you watch them. Granactive Retinoid is one of the rare retinol types that you can use around the eyes. You can easily apply a retinol-type product around the eyes without any risk of irritation. And you will see the benefits. This retinol is worth its weight in gold because it stimulates collagen, increases skin thickness, and speeds up cell regeneration to even out the color tone there. As it does this, the cells responsible for the darkness will also be reduced, and as the cells regenerate, it will greatly contribute to brightening your under-eye area. That's why we definitely want you to use Granactive Retinoid every night.

Second, if you have under-eye darkness, the second product you should use is OCL's Eyelighter Serum. What does Eyelighter Serum do? It contains three substances. One is caffeine. Caffeine increases microcirculation in the cells here. It enhances the circulation of the lower eyelid veins, increasing cell migration to that area and speeding up regeneration. Additionally, it contains green tea extract. Green tea is a strong antioxidant, as you know, and it is very effective in brightening. Finally, specifically to lighten darkness in the eye area, it contains a new molecule: tranexamic acid. The combined use of these three provides significant support in lightening under-eye darkness.

In summary, if you have under-eye darkness and you don't want under-eye light filler, don't want laser, or want additional support, the two products we recommend for home use are Eyelighter Serum in the morning and evening, and Granactive Retinoid only at night. Because it contains retinol, it is used at night. You can expect benefits after 8 weeks of regular use.

Now, it's not dark circles—it's wrinkles. What do we do then? You may be prone to wrinkles. Wrinkles that start at the corners of the eyes and on the eyelids may cause under-eye lines to increase over time, and the appearance of wrinkles may become more noticeable. Look, if you have such a tendency, ensure you moisturize your skin daily from the age of 20. This is step one. Second, make a retinol-type product a habit in your daily routine. If you use retinol every night, it is very important to prevent the formation of new wrinkles. You will start treating your wrinkles before they set in the future. You are always protecting. But these may not be enough. Or you didn't do them. You have wrinkles.

The first thing to do is Botox on your eyelids if you are over 30. Get Botox regularly if you are prone to wrinkles. Because it is the most effective procedure for treating the fine lines we call crow's feet. And it prevents your wrinkles from settling. Botox makes you happy instantly, but its main benefit is investment in the future. So if you want to prevent wrinkles from settling here in 5 or 10 years, get Botox regularly.

What can you do about under-eye wrinkles? The second method again is laser. This time, we have lasers to reduce wrinkles. We can apply them. When done 2 or 3 times a month, wrinkles lighten and last 2–3 years. But again, be prepared for redness, which lasts 6–7 days on average. Sometimes it lasts 8 days. And your eyelids may swell significantly. But when you do this, you will be very comfortable.

If you ask, "What can I do at home? I don't want these procedures," then we go back to the same approach. What is essential for your eye area? I say retinol again. The form of retinol applied to the eye area, Granactive Retinoid, must be used every night for wrinkles. When you apply Granactive Retinoid at night, you are doing the most important step for both darkness and wrinkles. If your problem is not darkness but wrinkles, you will use Granactive Retinoid every night again. But this time, instead of Eyelighter, you will use Hyalatox once a day in the morning and evening. Why? Because it contains something different. It has hyaluronic acid, which moisturizes the skin very well, keeping your under-eyes hydrated and filling wrinkles with hyaluronic acid. Additionally, it contains three peptides: a Botox-like peptide called Argireline, and two peptides called Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and Pentapeptide-18. These help gradually reduce fine lines. With the combination of these three peptides, you start to see a Botox-like effect in your under-eyes. Moreover, the feature of Hyalatox is that if you get Botox, using it regularly extends the life of Botox because it continues to relax the muscles there. Even after the Botox effect wears off, the effect of the peptides in Hyalatox continues. So if you have a wrinkle problem, we use Granactive Retinoid once a day at night and Hyalatox in the morning and evening. Again, with regular use, you will slowly see the benefits of these scientifically formulated products.

What else? There may be bags under your eyes. If you have a problem with bags, under-eye bags are a separate issue. It is a bit difficult to eliminate bags with cosmetic products. There are two ways. First, there is a laser called Endolift. We go in with a fiber as thin as our hair, slowly insert it into the bag, and deliver laser beams. The laser beams melt the fats under the bag and stimulate the skin to tighten. The fat melts, and the skin tightens, reducing the bags. When we do this, your under-eyes swell for an average of 8–9 days because the skin is very thin. In heat-generating procedures like laser, there will be swelling. This does not happen with under-eye light filler, but laser causes a reaction under the eye due to heat. So it definitely requires a recovery period of 5–7 days. When done, under-eye bags improve significantly, and the effect lasts 2–3 weeks. If you don't want laser, your second alternative is surgery. Under-eye bag surgery addresses these areas effectively.

What else can be done around the eyes? We talked about wrinkles and solutions. We talked about under-eye darkness and solutions. We talked about under-eye bags and solutions. There can also be drooping eyebrows. When eyebrows droop, it gives a tired expression to the person and affects the eye area. If your eyebrows are drooping, the first thing to do is get Botox at the outer corners of the eyes when you are younger. Because when you get Botox here, the eyebrows lift. And if you have a genetic tendency for drooping eyebrows, it can be managed with Botox for 8–10 years if done regularly. But after 8–10 years, you will need something more.

There are two ways here. One is thread lifting. We lift the eyebrows with threads inserted through the scalp to lift the eyebrows. Sometimes, while lifting the eyebrows with threads, we can also place threads around the eyes to give a more lifted appearance to the eyes. This is possible with threads. This is a non-surgical solution, but it lasts about 1 year. So, don't expect it to last 3 years. The longevity of thread lifts is about 1 year. The alternative to this is surgery. Eyebrows can be lifted with surgery. This is another method. But I always think surgery should be the last option. Use non-surgical methods first, and leave surgery for when all other options are exhausted.
