New body feeling: How charity lost 40 kilos through self-love

As her body slowed down her enterprising lifestyle more and more, Charity decided to lose weight. Four years later, she is not only physically lighter by 40 kilos - her liberated laugh also shows a mental relief.

When you scroll through Charity's Instagram profile, you are swept away by a flood of vitality and joie de vivre. The adventurous flight attendant shines happily on all her photos.

Whether traveling, training or at her wedding: she seems to have arrived at her home.

But that's only been the case for four years. This was preceded by a long time in which she repeatedly had to painfully find that her physical constitution did not match her dream life.

Until she finally decided to change something permanently.

Charity's run into a new life

In a conversation with "Popsugar" Charity Nelms remembers with uneasiness the time before her life: "I had started my career as a flight attendant and had to find out how incredibly difficult it was for my body. I was traveling all the time, came around the world and had adventures, but my body just couldn't keep up with what I loved doing, "she says.

So it was above all her dream job that finally opened her eyes. She wanted to get her body in shape to live the lifestyle that she had in mind and to do what she really wanted: "To see the world," Charity adds.

It all started with the "Couch to 5K" app, which animated them to run. The app helped her develop a certain exercise routine and find joy in moving and strengthening her body.

A new interest in workouts spread through her and she started to write her own training plans: "I bought instructions, used apps and researched on YouTube. I never went to the gym at the time, but always thought about what I'm doing on which day. "

Charity's first big win was then to go on for a kilometer without stopping. "I cried like a child. The things I thought I could never do make me humble today," she says of her first measurable sense of achievement.

The key to success: eat intuitively
With a new awareness of her body, the pretty brunette also began to pay more attention to her diet.

Above all, she let herself be guided intuitively and even now she only occasionally starts counting the calories and nutritional values of her food: "If I feel that I need structure, I track my food for a while until I feel that I can again successfully and consciously eat from my stomach. "

And she continues: "Overall, I have found that it helps me if I don't restrict myself and allow myself to eat what I want."

This nonchalance is reflected in a menu that is common to them

A healthy mix, but it can be seen that the focus is not on saving calories.

Breakfast: two cups of coffee with milk, an omelet with spinach, bell pepper, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and spring onions
Snack: a vegetable protein shake or a protein bar
Lunch: spinach salad with feta cheese, dried cranberries, walnuts and an iced latte
Snack: banana with coconut peanut butter
Dinner: French fries with homemade guacamole and tacos filled with vegetables
Dessert: dark chocolate

The right setting is the "Game Changer"
"Learning to love myself, treating myself with patience and kindness and changing my attitudes was a challenge, but it was also a game changer," says Charity. "As soon as the thoughts changed, everything else somehow found its place."

With the sense of achievement, her confidence finally increased. Because she knows what she has already achieved, she now has the security of being able to do everything.

Charity advises those who are about to embark on a journey to their personal wellbeing weight to start with a certain structure - and create a plan. "Set yourself a daily goal, a weekly goal, a monthly goal - whatever you think you can meet," explains the flight attendant.

However, her last and probably most important piece of advice is: "Be nice to yourself, be patient and allow yourself to make mistakes sometimes. You are worth being loved in every phase of the challenge."
